In 1954, Fender introduced the Stratocaster, conceived as a new instrument positioned at the top of the company's line.
Although it builds on ideas developed in the Telecaster, the Stratocaster introduced a new concept of the instrument. Its characteristic contoured body was designed with player comfort in mind. It also incorporated three pickups, compared to two on the Telecaster, and a new vibrato system that expanded the instrument's expressive possibilities.
The design evolved during its early years, and by around 1957, the Stratocaster had reached a configuration that would remain largely recognizable for decades.
Over time, its silhouette became one of the most recognizable shapes in the history of the electric guitar.
The Blackwing × Fender edition takes reference from the classic Sunburst Stratocaster, one of the most recognizable finishes associated with this model.
